Latest Oakland Roots Squad Signings Unveiled

Oakland Roots News Release
Oakland Roots have announced the addition of new players and have resigned players from its inaugural USL Championship season.

ALEJANDRO FUENMAYOR
Alejandro comes to Oakland Roots after three seasons in MLS with the Houston Dynamo. While in Houston, Fuenmayor made 38 League appearances while scoring three times and helping the team lift the 2018 US Open Cup.
DARIUSZ FORMELLA
Formella most recently featured for Sacramento Republic where he made 51 appearances scoring 17 times during his time for the NorCal side. One of those goals came at Laney last season against Oakland when he equalized in a match Oakland would go onto win 2-1. Formella additionally scored the opener against Oakland in the 3-3 draw in Sacramento.
DANNY BARBIR
Barbir is a center back by trade who most recently played for Sporting Kansas City II the past two seasons. The 23 year old Atlanta native made 39 appearances scoring on four occasions for Sporting II, one appearance of which came at Laney College to end the 2021 regular season against Oakland Roots.
EDGARDO RITO
Rito got his start with Atletico El Vigia in the academy before making 26 appearances for the senior team. Rito spent the 2019 and 2020 season in USL with New York Red Bulls II where he made 34 appearances scoring on two occasions.
JOSEPH NANE
Nane, the veteran midfielder from Cameroon has had a long career in North America and abroad having played in MLS, NASL, the Kazakhstan top division, and the Cypriot top division. Last season Nane was signed late in the season and became a mainstay in the center of the midfield during the playoff run.
CHARLIE DENNIS
Dennis spent the last two seasons with FC Tucson after spending the 2019 season with South Georgia Tormenta FC. The Brighton, England native has amassed over 70 appearances in USL League One over three seasons.
