Cincinnati Commandos News Release

George Murray hit Nez Mincy down the right sideline for a 15-yard touchdown with 5.4 seconds remaining as the Cincinnati Commandos (8-0) scored 13 points in the final 31 seconds to defeat the Chicago Knights (4-4), 48-41, Sunday afternoon at Victory Sports Complex in Rockford, Ill.

Murray's 19-yard touchdown pass to Greg Moore gave the Commandos a chance to tie the score at 41-41 with 31 seconds remaining, but Brandon Yingling's extra point sailed just right of the uprights.

Yingling atoned on the next play, recovering his own kickoff to give Cincinnati possession again at its own 10. A 13-yard screen pass to Derrick Moss moved Cincinnati to midfield, and Mincy was ruled out-of-out bounds against the wall at the Knights 15-yard line with 11.2 seconds left, setting up the game-winning play.

Murray completed 10 of 27 passes for 110 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers, finishing the game by completing seven of his last 10 passes for 82 yards and three scores.

Brandon Boehm and Mincy led Cincinnati with three receptions apiece, with Boehm finishing with a team-high 40 yards.

Derrick Moss added three rushing touchdowns, carrying the ball 10 times for 32 yards in all.

Terrill Byrd and Purnell Phillips led the defense with two sacks apiece, each also being credited with one of the Commandos three quarterback hurries. Phillips also blocked his sixth field goal of the season.

The Mothers' Day game was a makeup for a game originally scheduled for April 16.

Cincinnati is off next weekend and will return to action Saturday, May 21, when the Commandos will host the Indianapolis Stampede (1-7) at 7:30 p.m. at the Cincinnati Gardens.
