Canadian Football League

The EE Football Team proudly announced their new name, the Edmonton Elks, after the previous name was changed on July 21, 2020. In November 2020, the team asked the public to join in EE NameTime, a call out to help us find the best name for the club. The process resulted in 14,833 submissions with 2,047 unique name entries from all over the world. The information gathered was processed to choose the final candidates that best fit the criteria of the organization. After lengthy debate, consultation with linguistics experts from the Oxford Dictionary and the U of A's linguistics department, the name "Elks" was finally chosen, adding the "s" to the original choice "Elk". The new name reflects the speed, strength, and resilience of the Green and Gold and Northern Alberta.

Edmonton's football team has a new name. The Edmonton Elks will charge into the 2021 CFL season after the team announced its new moniker.

The Toronto Argonauts announced that the club has signed American QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson. Bethel-Thompson, 32, most recently played for the Aviators of The Spring League in 2020, throwing for nearly 700 yards and five touchdowns in three games. The California native is back in Double Blue after a 2019 season that saw the signal-caller lead the CFL in touchdown passes with 26 in just 13 starts, while completing 335 passes for 4,024 yards, both good for third best in the league. The 6'4, 220lb QB amassed nine games in 2019 with at least 300 yards passing and two with over 400 yards. MBT joined Toronto in 2017 and helped the organization win its 17th Grey Cup that season.

United States Football League

The United States Football League (USFL) announced that the league will officially return in the spring of 2022.

Initially launched in 1983, the USFL originally was an upstart spring football league consisting of 12 teams which featured some of the most exciting and recognizable young football stars in the country. When relaunched next year, the new USFL retains rights to key original team names. The league will target a minimum of eight teams and deliver high-quality, innovative professional football to fans throughout the spring season.

Former NFL and USFL QB Doug Flutie joins Colin Cowherd on the show to discuss the USFL's return on FOX.
