London Lightning News Release
(WINDSOR, ON) The London Lightning drop to 1-1 on the young season after losing a close game on the road to the Windsor Express, 85-84. A step back jumpshot by Shaq Keith of the Express gave them a 1-point lead with 2.5 seconds remaining in the game. Desite trailing the Express after the first quarter, London led most of the game before several lead changes in the final 5 minutes of the fourth quarter. Both London and Windsor held sizeable leads throughout the game, Windsor's being 12 and the Lightning 14, but neither team was able to pull away late.
Free throws were the deciding factor as Windsor was awarded 30 to London's 12 throughout the game with both teams shooting over 63% from the line. The Lightning's dominant defense was on display again tonight despite the loss, holding the Express to just 85 points while also collecting 11 steals. Their offense will need to clean up the turnovers (18 team turnovers) moving forward as Coach Plumb looks to prepare his Windsor again next week.
Veteran forward Mo Bolden led the way for the Lightning with a team-high 19 points on the night to go along with 5 rebounds and two of London's 5 blocked shots.
The Lightning are on the road again Monday to play the Subdury Five at the Sudbury Community Arena before returning home to the Budweiser Gardens for a Thursday rematch with the Express.
