Atlanta Justice News Release

ATLANTA, Ga. - With under one second left on the clock, Birmingham Power's (13-5) Coco Miller made a fast break lay-up to give Birmingham a 77-75 victory over the Atlanta Justice (5-12) at the John H. Lewis Complex at Morris Brown College.

The Power ultimately held on to their two-point half time lead (35-33), as both teams exchanged baskets back and forth in the second half, each scoring 42. The Birmingham lead in the second half reached as many as 15 before Atlanta rallied back. With 6:08 left in the game, Tamara Stocks sunk a lay-up to give the Justice their first lead of the half. Atlanta increased their lead to as much as 6, they just could not seem to put the Power away. A free throw by Birmingham's Jennifer Holmes knotted the score at 75 with 39 seconds remaining. The Justice held the ball looking for one last shot and then Holmes came up big again for the Power as she blocked Kisha Ford's jumper with only 10 seconds left on the game clock. Holmes pushed the ball up court ahead to Coco Miller with the fast break lay-up as time expired. Birmingham's Karyn Karlin led all scoring in the contest with 20 points. Joining her in scoring for the Power, were Kelly Miller with 14 points, Coco Miller with 16, and Tequilla Allen with 12. For the Justice, Tamara Stocks made 7 of 9 from the floor and 5 of 6 from the charity stripe to lead the team with 19 points. Natasha Anderson came off the bench for 22 minutes to earn her 18 points. Tracy Henderson was the only other double-digit scorer for Atlanta putting in a dozen in the contest.

"You hate to lose the game like that," commented Head Coach Rodney Minggia. "We were looking for the final shot and Birmingham just made a great stop. We tried to get the ball in down low to one of our post players and we couldn't. Kisha (Ford) took a good shot and Holmes blocked it. Coco then laid the ball in, and they won."
