Charlotte Eagles Summer Camps are wrapping up for the summer but there is still time to get in on the fun! The Elon Park Camp will run Aug 5th-9th, Elon Park is located at 11401 Ardrey Kell Road Charlotte, NC 28277
Any camper that has participated in a 2013 Eagles Summer Camp is eligible to participate in Camper Appreciation night at the Charlotte Eagles vs Antigua Barracuda game on Saturday, August 10th! All a child needs to participate in Camper Appreciation night is to wear their 2013 Summer Camps t-shirt.
All Eagles camps are run by the players, this week we are highlighting Evan Harding, Nate Thornton and Camp Director Brock Duckworth!
Evan Harding was born in Langley, British Columbia but attended East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, where he was named NCSCA All-State as a senior. Harding played college soccer at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and started 73 of 75 games played over four seasons at UNC Charlotte, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists during his collegiate career. He earned NCCSIA All-State honors, NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic region honors and All-Atlantic 10 honors in his senior year. During his college years Harding also played in the USL Premier Development League for the Southern California Seahorses. Harding turned professional in 2007 when he signed with the Richmond Kickers of the USL Second Division. He made his professional debut on April 21, 2007 as a substitute in Richmond's 2-0 opening day victory over the Cincinnati Kings. He was part of the Richmond team which won the USL Second Division championship in 2009. Harding signed with the Charlotte Eagles during the 2013 USL PRO.
Nate Thornton was born in Arlington, Texas and played collegiately for Clemson University. Thornton has been a member of the Eagles since 2011 and has recorded five goals in more than 30 league appearances for the club. He was also an integral member of the team during its 2012 US Open Cup Quarterfinal run. Thonrton has played in 18 games so far this season for the Eagles and has scored three goals while putting 25 shots on goal.
Camp Director Brock Duckworth grew up in Dallas, Texas. He played his college soccer at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He was named Second-team NSCAA All-South Atlantic in 2008 and Third-team All-CAA in 2009 while a member of the Seahawks. While in college he played for the Carolina Dynamo of the USL PDL during the 2009-2010 seasons. After graduating from UNC-Wilmington, Duckworth signed for the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL PRO in March of 2011. He posted four shutouts while going 11-5-2 in his 18 appearances for Wilmington. In 2012 Duckworth played for the Charleston Battery, making one appearance for the USL PRO Champions. Prior to the 2013 season Duckworth signed with the Charlotte Eagles.
