Laredo Law News Release
LAREDO, Texas â Question: What do the Super Bowl and Laredo have in common? Answer: a Maynard. Don Maynard, father of Laredo Law head coach Scot Maynard, will participate in the opening coin toss at Reliant Stadium this Super Sunday as the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers battle for the NFL crown.
"I am thrilled for my father," said Scot. "I am excited for him to be honored and proud to be his son. I know what he has done for football and this is a nice tribute."
Don, who was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame in 1987, played from 1958-73 with 13 seasons coming in New York with the Jets and included a Super Bowl III victory.
"We talk football daily and discuss certain strategies," said Scot. "It has been a real help to have someone in the family to talk to every single day about the game of football."
Scot Maynard will be at the Laredo Bucks game tonight and available for comment from 7:30 p.m. â 8 p.m. in the Bucks press box at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
