
Lapeer Loggers, South Muskoka Shield announce development deal

Lapeer, MI - The Lapeer Loggers, proud members of the All American Hockey League (AAHL) have announced today they have come to agreements with the South Muskoka Shield Junior A Hockey Club to become the official affiliate of the Loggers.
The South Muskoka Shield are a member of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League based in Ontario. The GMHL is a Toronto and northern Ontario based development league looking at sending its players to the next level.
The Shield is going into their fifth season in the GMHL. In those five seasons the shield have won a league championship and lost in the league finals last year. They have also seen seven players move up to the college ranks.
"We are really excited to be a part of a first class organization" stated Shield General Manager Gord Carey. "We would like to say good luck to the Loggers in their inaugural season and hope to see this partnership grow well into the future"
Loggers majority owner George Harrison was the Referee in chief for the GMHL between 2006-2009 and knows the league well.
"Gord puts a first class team on the ice" stated Loggers Owner George Harrison. "Gord along with his Head Coach Dallyn Telford will send us players that we know will not only be physically prepared for the pro game but also mentally. We are very proud to be associated with the Shield and hope for great things with both organizations for the 2010-2011 seasons."
