Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers (5-11) will welcome the Syracuse Silver Knights (9-7) to the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, February 15 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Syracuse leads the season series 3-1, with the Lancers lone win coming in their last matchup back on January 17 by a 16-14 score.

Despite the odds, the Lancers still have an opportunity to qualify for the postseason. They can still qualify providing they win their last four matches and Syracuse, who owns the fourth and final playoff spot loses their remaining four matches. Doing so would put both teams at 9-11, making the two teams point differential the determining factor. Syracuse currently holds the edge in point differential.

Offensively Rochester continues to be led by Mauricio Salles with 34 points. Midfielder Gary Boughton ranks fourth with 31 points while Elliot Fauske (27) and Joe Tavernese (25) remain close behind.

Offensively, Syracuse presents many problems as Kenardo Forbes (52 points), Machel Millwood (46 points), and Slavisa Ubirparapovic and Nelson Santana (33 points each) lead the Syracuse attack.

Saturday marks the Lancers Women in Sports Celebration in conjunction with Our Lady of Mercy High School. The first 500 ladies in attendance will receive Free Lancers Lipps (a custom Lancers lip balm) courtesy of DeltaSonic. The honorary captains for the match will be former U.S. Olympians and Rochester natives Iris and Felicia Zimmerman.

Following Saturday's match, the Lancers will head to Pennsylvania to take on the Roar in a match rescheduled from earlier this month. The match will take place in Thursday, February 20th at 7:05 p.m. All matches can be heard live on the Lancers flagship station Fickle 93.3 FM with veteran broadcaster Joe Giuliano once again calling all of the action.  In addition all MISL matches can be seen live via webcast at www.youtube.com/MISLindoorsoccer.

Cellino & Barnes will donate $888 for every goal that Lancers #8 Elliot Fauske scores at home this year and Dunkin Donuts will donate a pound of coffee to Foodlink for every Lancers goal this season.
