Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers, coming of their thrilling 12-11 shootout win over Syracuse on Saturday, will return to action on Saturday, December 27, 2014 when they host the first place Baltimore Blast in a key divisional match-up. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. at the War Memorial at the Blue Cross Arena.

Rochester will take the field looking to narrow a two game gap in the Eastern Division. The Lancers, off to their best start in franchise history at 4-1, trail the Blast (7-0) who have yet to lose in 2014. Rochester will have its work cut out for them as Saturday appears to have the markings of a defensive battle, as the Blast have allowed a league-low 16 points against in seven games. Rochester on the other hand ranks fifth in goals-against, surrendering just 4.8 per game. A win for the Lancers would be the first in 16 tries against the Blast.

The Lancers quick start to the 2014-15 season marks the first time in franchise history that they have been three games above the .500 mark. In addition, they are currently 2.5 games ahead of third place Syracuse in the Eastern Division.

The first 1,000 fans to Saturday's match will receive a free team wrist band. The Lancers will also host the world famous Zooperstars! for a halftime performance. Prior to kickoff, the Lancers will enshrine four new Wall of Fame inductees: Dave Sarachan, Peter Short, Eli Durante, and Rich Funke.

LANCERS TO HONOR FIRST RESPONDERS; PAY TRIBUTE TO OFFICER DARYL PIERSON

Prior to the match, the Lancers will also pay tribute to all local first responders. The team will wear custom tribute jerseys to honor the Rochester Police Department and to remember Officer Daryl Pierson who was killed in the line of duty in September. Officer Pierson's wife and children will serve as honorary captains for the game. Following the match in the arena lobby the jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting the Spirit of Blue, a national organization for police officer safety.

The Lancers next game is on Thursday, January 1, against the Syracuse Silver Knights at the Blue Cross Arena. Kickoff for the match is 4:00 p.m. Individual game tickets are now on sale for $10 and $15 for all fans over the age of two.  For individual tickets, season tickets, or group sales, call the Lancers office at (585) 872-5425.  Season tickets and voucher packs are currently on sale.  Season tickets can be purchased for $150 in any seat location.  Voucher packs start at just $60 and include free food.  For the Lancers full season schedule, visit www.rlancers.com.
