The Lancers celebrated their 50th anniversary of winning the 1970 NASL Championship and announced 21 returning players for the 2021 season in unique TV commercials due to covid concerns.

The Lancers announced the core of their roster on Sunday, Sept. 13, the 50th anniversary of the team winning the 1970 North American Soccer League championship. In honor of that team's achievement, the Lancers will wear replica jerseys of that squad during the MASL season. They also will wear 1981 Rochester Flash and 1996 Rochester Rhinos jerseys during the season. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off to raise money and awareness for Rochester based charities.
The players were introduced during 50+ commercial spots on Rochester TV stations all day Sunday. Due to Covid concerns the team was unable to properly hold a press conference. Lancers owner, Salvatore "SoccerSam" Fantauzzo said "The response we recevied from all of our TV commercials this past Sunday was amazing. Kayla Kent-Moreira, Director of Operations received hundreds of ticket renewals and jersey orders. We truly appreciate our Lancers fans and we are honored to continue the Lancers legacy that was started in 1967 by the pioneers of American soccer."
The biggest signing of Sunday was the return of popular and MASL all-star midfielder Jake Schindler. He was an original Lancer in 2011 and last played with Rochester during the 2018-19 MASL2 campaign. This Rochester born player has been a key performer for whatever team he has played for.
"He brings stability on the field," Head Coach, Doug Miller said. "Jake can play in the back, he can play as a second forward and he can play as a target."
