Rochester Lancers News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced an impressive new addition to the 2014-15 team roster. Strengthening the team this season will be 2014 MISL champion, Alex Megson.
Fresh off an MISL championship victory with the Missouri Comets, the 28 year old forward joins the Lancers with one goal in mind; to bring the MISL championship to Rochester. Playing in all 20 regular season games for the Comets last season, Megson finished with 17 total points. His on-field versatility has placed him as a forward as well as a defender throughout his indoor career.
He began his MISL career in 2010, scoring nine goals and 20 points for the Chicago Riot and was named to the 2010-11 MISL All-Rookie team. In 2011-2012, he headed east to play 14 games with the Syracuse Silver Knights. With the Silver Knights, he accumulated 23 points on 32 shots with five assists. In front of 8,078 fans at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, Megson scored a hat-trick to lead the Silver Knights to an 18-7 victory over the Blast.
"Alex comes from a household of professional soccer players, as his dad was a great professional in the 90's," said Doug Miller, President of Team Operations and Lancers Head Coach. "He is coming off winning a championship with Missouri last year and will bring that Championship mentality to the Lancers."
Defender Stephen Basso has been traded to the Ontario Fury for undisclosed cash considerations.
