July 27, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Cleveland Rockers News Release
Lake Erie, OH. More exciting, high scoring and affordable ABA professional basketball will be coming to the Lake Erie, Ohio area this season. According to Pierre Hall, COO of the Ohio-based Sports Franchise Development Group, LLC., the co-owners of the team, "This team fills out a tremendous division with the Ohio Aviators, Toledo, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Columbus. All are putting together extremely exciting teams and organization and it should be one of the most competitive ABA divisions. And the rivalries should be tremendous. We're putting together an excellent organization also.
Attorney Quentin William, a former team President in the NBA's NBDL will serve as the group's Special Counsel. He is bringing with him several of the team's marketing managers. According to William, "Our goal over the next two years will be to add at least 10 teams to the ABA and we are starting with the idea of executing the ABA's business model to a T. A large church group (to be announced) will be partnering with us here.
Pierre will service as President/GM. His background in sales and marketing is excellent and he is the perfect combination of sports professional and businessman. He represents several professional basketball players, is a Pro-Trainer and he owns and is developing a chain of training schools throughout the country called America's Pro-prepping Athlete Schools (www.propreppers.com).
The Lake Erie team wil be known as the Lake Erie Rockers in honor of the WNBA team that formerly played in Cleveland and to keep with the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame tradition of that city. The team will be developing programs to promote the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame this season.
Jim Dod will serve as team Athletic Trainer/Assistant Coach/Co-Owner. The team will hold a press conference shortly during which the entire staff, coaches, tryout camps, venue, sponsorships, tickets and other important information will be announced.
