Lady Mavs Recruiting Dancers

July 20, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Kentucky Mavericks News Release

Bowling Green, KY. The ABA Kentucky Mavericks basketball team is scheduled to tip off their inaugural season in South Central Kentucky in December and the campaign is underway to recruit dancers for the Lady Mavs dance squad. The team has made quite an impression so far and the dance team looks to follow suit. Jennifer Candler has been named Coach and instructor for the dance team.

Ms. Candler brings to the front office an extensive marketing and business background and her dance experience will complement her role as dance instructor. She was on the Pom-Pom Squad at the University of Tennessee and she served as a choreographer of the squad two years after graduation. Candler (Jennifer Oldham) also spent some time in the national spotlight appearing on the NBC reality series Fear Factor in 2006. Carrie Warren from Hendersonville TN and Angela Morgan from Glasgow KY have been named assistants.

"We are looking for participants to join the Lady Mavs dance squad," said Candler. "Tryouts are slated for Monday, July 28th through Friday, August 1st from 5pm-9pm. The auditions will be held at the Phil Moore Park, 701 Scottsville Road in Bowling Green. Participants must be 21 years or older to try out and have strong dance skills, stage presence and a great attitude."

There are 12 position to fill and it is mandatory that participants attend each night of the tryouts. The Lady Mavs will announce the squad on Friday, August 1 and then begin preparations for the approaching season.

The Kentucky Mavericks announced earlier this month the team's arrival in Bowling Green. Team owner Jason Smith stated, "Not only is the team bringing the most family oriented pro sport experience to the region, the Mavs will be a tremendous asset to the area through charitable contributions and employment opportunities."
