The Charlotte Lady Eagles and the Carolina Dynamo went scoreless for much of the first half. Charlotte controlled the offensive pressure. The Lady Eagles took the lead in the 27th minute. Tina Murphy sent a cross in to the left post. Annamieke Griffioen and Nkiru Okosieme were there. It was Okosieme that took the shot to beat Carolina goalkeeper Ashley Owens. The Lady Eagles extended their lead to two goals in the 33rd minute. Two minutes into the second half Tina Murphy scored from about 12 yards out off the feed from defender Stephanie Pezzullo. Then three minutes later, Murphy got her second goal of the match. Ashley Swinehart got a fast break down the right flank. Swinehart put a shot to the far post outside the reach of diving goalkeeper Ashley Owens. The shot caught the corner of the post, but Tina Murphy was there to finish. Paige Ledford added her second goal of the game in the 59th minute. Tina Murphy crossed a ball in from the right side to find Ledford inside the six yard box. Paige scored with a header inside the right post to take the 5-0 lead.
