Ladd Named Player of the Week

Marquette - Marquette Rangers forward Garrett Ladd has been named the North American Hockey League North Division Sherwood Player of the Week for his performance in three victories this past weekend.

The downstate Fenton native connected for two goals and two assists in that three game stretch as the Rangers skated to victories over Alpena and Traverse City.The wins put Marquette alone in first place in the NAHL North Division by four points over The Traverse City North Stars, and eight ahead of third place Janesville.

On Thursday, Ladd put home the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win over the Alpena IceDiggers. After being held scoreless the next night - a 2-1 triumph over Traverse City - the 20-year-old notched a goal and two assists, including one on Tanner Kero's game-winning marker, as the Rangers bested the North Stars, 3-2.

The Bemidji State University (CHA) recruit was also a plus-2 for the weekend, and continues to lead the team in scoring with 56 points on 19 goals and 37 assists."Garrett is our leader and, as we get closer to the playoffs, we're going to need him and our other veterans to step up like he did," said Rangers head coach Kenny Miller. "He was a force all weekend."

The Rangers return to action this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Janesville, Wisconsin to take on the Janesville Jets.
