La. State Senator To Officiate SIFL Championship Game Coin Toss

LAKE CHARLES, La. (July 23, 2009) - Louisiana State Senator Willie L. Mount (D-Lake Charles) will officiate the coin toss for the inaugural Southern Indoor Football League championship game between her hometown Louisiana Swashbucklers and the Austin Turfcats on Monday, July 27. Kickoff in the Lake Charles Civic Center is 7 p.m. CST.

Mount was elected the first woman Louisiana State Senator from District 27 in 1999 following her six and a half years serving as Lake Charles' first woman Mayor. She is serving her third term in the State Senate and chairs the Health and Welfare Committee.

Monday's pre-game activities will include the National Anthem performed by Chris Flowers of local performing group Louisiana Express and the presentation of the SIFL Most Valuable Players. Jerry Snider of Christian World will offer the invocation.

Tickets for are now on sale at the Lake Charles Civic Center box office starting as low as $10 for end zone seats to $51.50 for the front row. There is a $1.50 facility fee charged by the Civic Center. Parking is free.

Louisiana (11-1) will host the Turfcats (10-2) in the third consecutive year the Swashbucklers hosting of a league a championship game. Louisiana won back-to-back Intense Football League titles in 2007-2008.

Among the numerous championship game promotions will be a halftime car giveaway.

Championship Game Webcast & Talent Finalized

LAKE CHARLES, La. (July 23, 2009) - The schedule and talent for the Southern Indoor Football League's webcast coverage of Monday's championship game has been finalized. All webcasts will be available on www.southernifl.com

Monday's coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. CST and will feature the presentation of the SIFL MVPs. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CST.

Scott Blanchard will handle play-by-play duties with Cason Robison providing color commentary and Lexie Iskander on sideline duty. Blanchard and Robison worked Swashbuckler webcasts during the regular season while Iskander served as the Acadiana Mudbugs' public relations contact.

To counter the Swashbuckler presence on the webcast, Austin Turfcat staff will handle the live blog with Turfcats Creative Services Director Kasey Johns serving as moderator.

Three twitter feeds will be updated - the official SIFL twitter at twitter.com/siflfootball as well as twitter.com/austinturfcats and twitter.com/coachsmb05 (Louisiana) - as often as possible during the game.

On Sunday, a one-hour pre-game webcast from the Lake Charles Civic Center starts at 6 p.m. and will feature interviews with coaches and players.
