
LA Riptide to Visit LA Zoo on Friday

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Wednesday, June 27, 2007 - Lacrosse fans in Southern California will have an opportunity to meet some of their favorite players as the Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), today announced that they will visit the Los Angeles Zoo on Friday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Riptide attackman Wes Green, midfielder Xander Ritz and the team's brand new mascot, Rippy, are scheduled to be on hand to sign autographs and meet with Riptide fans as they explore the new Spider City exhibit at the L.A. Zoo, located in the heart of Griffith Park (5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles).
The Riptide are also offering Family Packs presented by the L.A. Zoo for Saturday's game. The packs include four Riptide tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four passes to the LA Zoo starting at just $70. Upgrades are available. The Riptide's next game is set for Saturday, June 30 versus the San Francisco Dragons at The Home Depot Center, with the game scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

About the L.A. Zoo
The L.A. Zoo features more than 900 animals amid lush Botanical Gardens, including orangutans in the Red Ape Rain Forest, chimpanzees of Mahale Mountains, dragons of Komodo featuring the largest lizard in the world, and Zoo favorites like giraffes, tigers, hippos and more. The L.A. Zoo's Spider City exhibit gives visitors a chance to get face-to-fangs with venomous spiders and creepy crawlers from around the world, as they weave their way through chilling displays of more than 25 species of spiders, including black widows, tarantulas, brown recluse and more. The exhibit features a quarter-pounder (spider, that is), the Goliath Bird-Eating Tarantula boasting a leg-span of up to 11 inches, and the opportunity to explore giant spider webs and test your abilities to see how you measure up against a real spider.
