LA Riptide to Host Open Try-Outs Next Month

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Friday, February 16, 2007 - The L.A. Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) will host open try-outs at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University at Dominguez Hills on Saturday, March 17, Riptide General Manager G.W. Mix announced today.
"We are excited to introduce the Warrior L.A. Riptide Challenge open try-outs this year," said Mix. "Coach (John) Tucker and I believe there are talented players in our area who have not been able to remain in the center of the competitive lacrosse universe due to geographic and occupational restrictions. We are hopeful the MLL's move west and the window of opportunity our try-outs provide will give all of us a chance to see if these players can compete at the highest level our sport has to offer."
Players who sign up for the Warrior L.A. Riptide Challenge will compete in structured skill and scrimmage sessions at the Home Depot Center. The time and length of each session will be determined once all registrations have been completed and returned to the Riptide coaching staff. Players judged worthy of participation by the coaching staff will be invited to the Riptide's 2007 pre-season training camp. Selected players must also commit to participating in additional Riptide events and promotional activities.
There is a participation fee of $95 per player. Fees will include a pair of official Riptide lacrosse shorts and four Riptide tickets, including two tickets to the Riptide's season opener against the New Jersey Pride on Sunday, May 27 at 7:00 PM at the Home Depot Center.

The Riptide will open training camp on Saturday, April 28. Training camp will run for three weekends leading up to the Riptide's May 19 season opener at the Chicago Machine. Training camp sessions will run Saturdays and Sundays and they will be open to the media and to the public.
