
LA KISS Lose Second Straight Game, 73-37

Trenton, NJ - The LA KISS (4-6) suffered a tough 36-point loss against the Philadelphia Soul (9-2) in front of a crowd of 5,802 fans at the Sun National Bank Center on Saturday afternoon. The LA KISS were neck-and-neck with the Soul during the first quarter, but the Soul took control of the game in the second quarter.
LA KISS quarterback Pete Thomas completed 22 of 40 pass attempts for 259 yards and five touchdowns. Donovan Morgan led the LA KISS receiving corps with seven receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Morgan scored two other receiving touchdowns, but they were called back due to offensive pass interference. Brandon Collins hauled in eight passes for 81 yards and a touchdown, while DJ Stephens scored twice and tallied six receptions.
Philadelphia Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh completed 20 out of 23 attempts, for a total of 261 yards, six touchdowns and zero interceptions. Wide receiver Darius Reynolds had 10 receptions, a total of 141 yards, and three touchdown receptions. Sean Kauleinamoku added six receptions for a total of 81 yards and a touchdown.
LA KISS defensive leader Josh Victorian recorded nine total tackles (eight solo). Fredrick Obi had seven solo tackles. Philadelphia Soul's defensive leaders included Tracy Belton and James Romain. Belton had six solo tackles and one assist tackle, while Romain had four solo tackles and one assisted tackle.
In the first quarter, Jeramie Richardson of the Philadelphia Soul scored a two-yard touchdown run in the first series of the game. The PAT was good and the Soul took a 7-0 lead. After the Soul scored, they attempted an onside kick, which was recovered by the LA KISS within the 10-yard line. Halfway through the first quarter, Morgan rushed into the end zone for a two-yard touchdown. A huge turnover occurred when Clevan Thomas of the LA KISS recovered a Soul fumble inside the one-yard line. However, they were unable to capitalize on the Soul's turnover and the score remained even at seven points at the end of the first.
On the first possession of the second quarter, the Soul scored a six-yard touchdown from Raudabaugh to Reynolds. The kick was no good and the Soul led by six points.
With 8:51 left in the second quarter, DJ Stephens caught a touchdown from Thomas. The PAT was blocked and the Soul ran it all the way back for a safety, taking a three-point lead. Nearly a minute and a half later, Reynolds scored on a 37-yard pass, resulting with a successful PAT. Thomas then connected with Collins for a touchdown pass. A failed PAT resulted in the Soul maintaining a three-point lead. With two and a half minutes left in the first half, Richardson scored on a 29-yard pass from Raudabaugh. Following a Thomas interception, Philadelphia scored on a four-yard touchdown run by Richardson. A successful PAT extended the Soul lead to 36-19, which was the score at the half.
