Los Angeles KISS News Release
Los Angeles, CA - The LA KISS have been assigned AFL Hall of Fame defensive back Clevan Thomas who was most recently on the San Jose SaberCats where they won the 2015 Arena Bowl Championship. The 11th year defensive back looks to bring his championship pedigree to the LA KISS for the upcoming 2016 season.
"We are extremely excited to have a player of Clevan Thomas' caliber join the LA KISS," said Omarr Smith, Head Coach of the LA KISS. "To have a veteran like Thomas in our locker room will be invaluable this upcoming season not only on the field, but off the field as well. I have seen his leadership first-hand for many years and he will leave a lasting impassion on this organization for years to come."
Thomas, a 5'10", 195 pound defensive back from Florida State University, is entering his 11th year in the AFL. Thomas' career started in 2002 where he was named AFL Defensive Player of the Year and AFL Rookie of the Year after recording 55 tackles, 18 pass breakups and 5 interceptions with the San Jose Sabercats. Thomas then went on to win AFL Defensive Player of Year in 2003 and 2013 along with First Team All-Arena honors in 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2013, as well as Second Team All-Arena honors in 2006 and 2008. Thomas, the 4-time ArenaBowl Champion, is second in league history with 78 career interceptions and was inducted in the AFL Hall of Fame in 2012.
