LA Galaxy to play San Francisco's California Victory

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- The LA Galaxy has confirmed it will play its final preseason game against San Francisco's California Victory on March 30, at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Kickoff will be at 2:00 PM.
It will be the first-ever match-up between the the two California-based soccer clubs, with the Victory beginning its inaugural season in the USL First Division this spring.
"Playing the Galaxy is both a challenge and a good measure for us in our quest to develop a quality team for the stringent 28-game USL season," said Victory head coach Glenn Van Straatum. "We expect [Galaxy head coach] Frank Yallop to play his full squad in preparation for their home opener a week later."
Van Straatum added that he hopes to have the Victory's assigned players from parent-club Deportivo Alaves in the squad by that time.
The LA Galaxy, future club of David Beckham and 2006 US Open Cup finalist, has had a excellent preseason so far, most recently blanking the Fresno Fuego 4-0.
This Saturday the California Victory plays Cal at the College of Alameda. Other preseason opponents include Real San Juan of Sacramento and the Fiji National Men's Team. Go to www.californiavictorysoccer.com for more information.
The Victory's regular season opens with two tough games -- on the road at 2006 champions Vancouver Whitecaps on April 28, and a home season opener against championship game finalist Rochester Raging Rhinos on May 12. ---
