Knoxville Experiences Growing Pains

Knoxville, TN- The Knoxville Nighthawks (0-2) are looking forward to a rematch next week with the Richmond Raiders (2-1) after falling to them tonight 70-42.

The Nighthawks started out strong tonight on the road for the second week in a row. After a pair of opening touchdowns scored by Richmond, Knoxville answered by taking the lead at the end of the first quarter by a score of 14-13. The lead was short lived as Richmond came back to take a 27-21 lead after the first half of play.

The third quarter began as the Raiders came out determined to stifle an effective Nighthawk attack forcing three turnovers in the quarter to build a 13 point lead.

Knoxville Quarterback Tony Colston passed for 218 yards and 5 touchdowns in the losing effort building off his impressive season opening stat line that had him leading the league in passing efficiency and total offense. Wide receivers Kelvin Thompson, Ryan McDaniel, and Brandon Bunn were all recipients of 2 touchdowns against the Raiders this week.

Next week's home opener on Saturday, March 31st at 7pm against the Richmond Raiders will provide the Nighthawks and their fans a chance at redemption.
