Knighthawks Evans And Chapman Win Weekly Awards

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Evans was named the Offensive and Overall Player of the Week by the National Lacrosse League today. It marked the second straight week that Evans won the weekly awards. Sandy Chapman was also honored as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Evans recorded four goals, including the game winner, six assists and 11 loose balls last Saturday in Rochester's 15-14 overtime win over the Buffalo Bandits. The fourth-year pro scored the overtime winner at 4:23 to help the Knighthawks improve to 4-5. Evans is currently second on the team with 48 points (20+28) in nine games. With his 10 points last week, he now has 32 (14+18) in the last two games.

Chapman was honored for the first time in his Knighthawks career by winning Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Last Saturday, he registered two assists, seven loose balls and one faceoff win against the Bandits. Chapman also assisted on Evans' game-winning OT goal. The Toronto native is in his eighth season in the NLL and fourth with the Knighthawks. In 2008, he was named the team's Best Defenseman and in 2007, he was named the Knighthawks' Unsung Hero.

This weekend, Rochester visits the Toronto Rock on Saturday, March 21st at 7:30 p.m. at Air Canada Centre. The contest is the 200th regular-season game in Rochester history.
