
KiXX win puts team one away from 250 in 13-year history

Springfield, Massachusetts, December 6, 2008 - The Philadelphia KiXX (2-0) defeated the Massachusetts Twisters (0-2) by a score of 18-7 in the Twisters inaugural home game as members of the National Indoor Soccer League at the Eastern States Coliseum. All-Star Goalkeeper Peter Pappas tallied the win playing in his 400th career game, while Paul Dellistritto received the loss.
Ptah Myers opened scoring for the KiXX on a feed from Player/Coach Don D'Ambra 4:04 into the game. Hewerton Moriera put the KiXX up four on a two-pointer :39 later The KiXX finished the first quarter of play up 6-0 with a goal at 10:27 from Anthony Maher, the assist posted to Pat Morris.
Maher scored the game winning goal :23 into the second quarter, the assist was credited to Pat Morris, his second of the match. At 11:25 Hewerton tallied his second goal of the night, unassisted. With 32 seconds remaining in the second quarter, LaSalle graduate Jeremy Ortiz, scored his first career goal on an assist by Maher to put the KiXX up 12-0 at the half.
Massachusetts scored their first four points of the game with unassisted goals by Alex Montinucci (3:00) and Jeff Deren (4:03) to make the score 12-4 KiXX. 43 seconds later, Ricardinho notched his first goal of the night on an assist from Ortiz. At 9:41 in the third quarter Hewerton secured a hat-trick, his second in as many games on a feed from Richardinho.
Hewerton gave the KiXX an 18-4 lead to start the final stanza on a two-point goal after the Twisters' Deren was penalized on a tripping call. Everson Maciel capitalized on a three-point power-play goal after Ricardinho received a 2-minute penalty for four fouls in a half.
The Philadelphia KiXX return to the Spectrum on Saturday, December 13 to face Genoni Martinez and the Monterrey La RaZa (1-1). Kick-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. where the first 2,000 fans 14 and over will receive 2009 KiXX Dance Team Calendars.
