
KiXX roster takes shape with six signings

Philadelphia, PA, October 29, 2008 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today that the club has agreed to terms with six players for the upcoming 2008-09 National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) season. Veterans Ricardinho and Hewerton both competed with the Detroit Ignition last season, while defender Joe DiBuono was a member of the Milwaukee Wave. Midfielder Ryan Heins and goalkeeper Nick Hovaker have re-signed for their sophomore seasons, and rookie Jeremy Ortiz signs after being drafted first overall in the 2008 MISL Amateur Draft by the New Jersey Ironmen out of LaSalle University.
Hewerton (pronounced Everton) ranked ninth in the League last season in points while playing for the Detroit Ignition, scoring 24 goals and 24 assists for 77 points, all career highs. Hewerton comes from the Ignition along with Ricardhino after the two played together in Detroit for two seasons, including the 2006-07 Ignition team that lost to the KiXX in the MISL Championship game.
Ricardinho also set career highs last season, scoring 20 goals and recording 15 assists for 58 points. The Brazil native rejoins teammate Angel Rivillo in the midfield; the two spent the 2004-05 season with the Milwaukee Wave and the won the League championship.
DiBuono comes over from the Milwaukee Wave after scoring six goals as a defender in his rookie season. The Montreal native joins recent KiXX signing and Cape May native Anthony Maher, also coming from Milwaukee. DiBuono attended Robert Morris College, where he was a First-Team All-North East Conference selection.
Heins and Hovaker return for their second seasons, after contributing as rookies last season. Hovaker filled in nicely for Peter Pappas, starting seven games and finishing with a 3-5 record and a 12.87 PAA. Heins played in 27 games as a rookie, scoring four goals and adding two assists for 11 points. Heins was selected in the first round by the KiXX in the 2007 MISL Amateur Draft after a four-year collegiate career at Temple University.
Ortiz enters his rookie campaign after being selected first overall in the 2008 MISL Amateur Draft by the New Jersey Ironmen. The Edison, NJ native was a three-time A-10 All-Conference Team member at LaSalle University.
The KiXX will host the Rockford Rampage in the team's season opener on Saturday, November 15. Game time at the historic Wachovia Spectrum is set for 7:05pm ET. All fans in attendance will receive a complimentary 2008-09 Philadelphia KiXX Schedule Magnet.
