Baltimore, MD - The Philadelphia KiXX (8-7) fell to the first-place Baltimore Blast (13-2), 12-2, in front of 8,828 fans at 1st Mariner Arena. With the victory, Baltimore clinches the number one seed and the first-round bye in the 2008 National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) postseason. The KiXX can secure a spot into the playoffs with a victory versus the Rockford Rampage on March 8.
The top-seeded Blast wasted little time, connecting on a pair of scores in the game's first two minutes. Guiliano Celenza struck first with a two-pointer on an assist from Carlos Garcia at 1:16, followed by an unassisted two-point score from Machel Millwood at 1:47.
After a scoreless second quarter, Medford, NJ native Ryan Heins put the visitors on the board, 4-2, with a two-point tally on a feed from newcomer Jeremy Ortiz at 2:10 of the third stanza. Millwood responded with his second score of the evening on an assist from defender Jonathan Greenfield at 4:30. Celenza followed with his second two-point goal of the contest to stretch Baltimore's advantage to six, 8-2, entering the final period.
Robbie Aristodemo and Mike Lookingland sealed the victory for the Blast, 12-2, with two-point scores at 1:29 and 6:01, respectively of the fourth quarter.
The back-to-back series concludes with a meeting versus the Rockford Rampage at the MetroCentre on Sunday, March 8. Game-time is scheduled for 6:05 pm ET and will be available live via webcast at www.wmssfm.com.
The club then returns to the City of Brotherly Love to entertain the Blast on Saturday, March 14. The contest, dubbed "Girl Scout Night" offers special discounts and promotions to the area's girl scouts. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is slated for 7:05 pm ET with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET.
