KiXX Earn 10-8 Overtime Win Versus Rockford

Philadelphia, PA, March 1, 2009 - The Philadelphia KiXX defeated the Rockford Rampage 10-8 in overtime in front of 6,769 fans at the Wachovia Spectrum. With the victory, the KiXX improve to 1-1 when forced to the extra stanza and 8-6 overall to move into a tie with the idle Monterrey La RaZa for second place in the National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) standings.

With defender Joe Di Buono serving a two-minute tripping penalty, Matthew Stewart provided the visiting Rampage an early 2-0 advantage with a two-point power-play goal at 2:51 of the opening quarter. Former KiXX midfielder Gary Brooks extended the Rockford lead to four, 4-0, with an unassisted two-point score at 8:37. With one-minute remaining in the stanza, Ricardinho put the hosts onto the board with an unassisted two-point goal, 4-2.

Rockford's Jamar Beasley opened the second period with a two-point restart goal on an assist from Enrique Tovar to regain the four-point advantage, 6-2, for the visitors.

Medford, NJ native Ryan Heins pulled Philadelphia back within two, 6-4, taking advantage of a misplay by Sanaldo at 5:30 of the third frame. Player/Coach Don D'Ambra knotted the score, 6-6, depositing a pass from Ricardinho on the restart at 10:46. Defender Geison Moura responded to regain the Rampage advantage, 8-6, at 13:10.

Ricardinho pulled the hosting KiXX back even, 8-8, blasting home a shot into the top left corner of the net at 9:07 of the final quarter of play; defender Lee Tschantret registered the assist on the play. The score held as time expired, sending the contest into overtime.

Forward David Castellanos secured the KiXX 10-8 win with a two-point score at 4:04 of the extra stanza.

Notes: Tonight's contest marked the second time of the season the KiXX needed an extra stanza to determine the winner. The KiXX are now 1-1 when forced to the extra stanza this season.
