KiXX Drop 16-10 Decision to Undefeated Baltimore

Baltimore, MD - The Philadelphia KiXX were defeated the undefeated Baltimore Blast, 16-10, in front 7,368 fans at the 1st Mariner Arena. Philadelphia remains one win shy of 250 for its 13-year history and is now 0-2 since recording their 249th victory. Northeast Catholic native Pat Morris registered a hat trick for the KiXX and finished with a team-high seven points.

Blast Forward Machel Millwood opened the scoring, tallying a pair of two-point goals (2:31, 11:22) to give the hosts a 4-0 advantage. After KiXX newcomer Jeremy Ortiz was sent to the penalty box for a two-minute tripping penalty, defender P.J. Wakefield buried a pass from Guiliano Celenza with only six seconds remaining in the frame to extend Baltimore lead to six, 6-0.

Midfielder Pat Healey finished a header to stretch the Blast's lead to 8-0 just over a minute (1:07) into the second stanza. Philadelphia native Pat Morris ended the KiXX scoring drought, connecting on a two-point restart goal from Ricardinho at 8:49 of the period.

Celenza found the back of the net on a pass from Matt Tirschman to regain the eight-point Blast lead, 10-2, at 2:50 of the third frame. Defender Mike Lookingland continued Baltimore's offensive assault with a two-point score at 6:43. Millwood finished the hat trick with his third two-point notch of the evening at 9:04, this time on the power-play after KiXX rookie defender Kevin Coleman was sent to the penalty box for a holding infraction. Hewerton Moreira blasted home an unassisted three-point goal to put Philadelphia back on the board, 14-5, at 11:36; Moreira has now registered at least one goal in each of his first four games with the KiXX this season. Forward Matt Watson quickly responded for Baltimore, finishing a pass from Tirschman at 13:30.

Morris registered a three-point score, his second tally of the contest, on a dish from teammate Angel Rivillo, 16-8, at 1:10 of the final quarter of play. Morris continued to complete the hat trick with a two-point score on a rebound off the glass from Anthony Maher at 13:23, but Philadelphia fell 16-10.
