March 22, 2009 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA, March 22, 2009 - The Philadelphia KiXX did their job to secure a spot in the National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) semifinals with a 25-5 win versus the Massachusetts Twisters and now just await their playoff fate. In front of 6,732 fans, the KiXX put on a show for their season finale and the team's final home game at the Wachovia Spectrum as the historic arena is scheduled to be razed.

With the victory, Philadelphia concludes the NISL season with a 10-8 record. The club can secure a berth in the postseason with a Monterrey La RaZa victory versus the Rockford Rampage tonight. The KiXX can still qualify for the playoffs should Rockford earn the win, but would then need the top-seeded Baltimore Blast to defeat the La RaZa in Monterrey in the League's season finale on March 29.

Massachusetts' Padro Navaro started the scoring at 4:30 of the first quarter with a three-point goal, 0-3, assisted by teammate Tony Cartiera. After a tripping infraction on Twisters goalkeeper Paul DelloStritto at 5:28, Philadelphia was awarded a shootout; Ricardinho capitalized for a two-point power-play score to pull the hosts within one, 2-3. Sandre Naumoski slid the ball into the left-hand corner of the net to give Philadelphia their first lead of the contest, 4-3, assisted by Cape May Court House native Anthony Maher.

Ricardinho connected on a cross-field pass to Northeast Catholic graduate Pat Morris who easily widened the KiXX advantage with a two-point goal, 6-3. Brothers Tony and Franco Cartiera connected for a two-point score to pull the Twisters back within one, 6-5, at 6:25 of the stanza. Less than a minute later, defender Joe Di Buono blasted home a two-point restart score to close the half with the KiXX holding the advantage, 8-5.

Philadelphia controlled the third stanza with three unanswered goals coming from Jeremy Ortiz, Anthony Maher, and Lee Tschantret, who earned his first three-point goal of the season.

The KiXX commanded another period to secure the victory, this time with four unanswered goals. Clay Roberts got in on the scoring, along with Jorge Vallejo. The tally was Vallejo's first goal of his professional indoor career. Morris and David Castellanos both earned three-point scores for Philadelphia to help close out this contest, 25-5.

Notes: Ricardinho posted a game-high five assists and one goal for seven points to lead all scorers.
