Philadelphia, PA, September 23, 2008 - After 24 hours and 15 minutes, there is a new world record for the longest game of kickball ever played.

From 7:00PM Friday night September, 19 to 7:15PM Saturday night September 20, a group of volunteers from Philadelphia's Helping Hand Rescue Mission played kickball to raise money for local kids.

The marathon was sponsored by the Kyle Korver Foundation to raise money for a recreation center at the Mission in North Philadelphia.

Korver, a former 76er forward who is currently with the NBA's Utah Jazz, flew to Philadelphia and played in the event. Adam Bruckner, an assistant coach with the Philadelphia KiXX and youth director at the Mission, spearheaded the event.

The group played 164 full innings, scored 213 total runs, and popped 5 kickballs on their way toward their goal of raising $10,000.

The marathon was played at Capitolo playground in South Philadelphia, in the shadows of famous Geno's and Pat's cheese steaks.

The group bested the previous world record of 24 hours set in Milwaukee in 2005.
