Marquette Rangers News Release
Marquette - Marquette Rangers goaltender Kevin Kissaw has been named the GDI/North American Hockey League Goalie of The Week for his performance this past weekend.
Kissaw backed the Rangers to three straight road wins; beating Alpena 2-1 last Thursday, and Motor City Friday and Saturday by scores of 4-1 and 4-3.
With the three wins, Marquette has moved into sole possession of third place in the NAHL North Division with 32 points, two points behind second place Mahoning Valley. The Rangers travel to Boardman, Ohio to play the Phantoms this Friday and Saturday
"It's an honor to be recognized," the Goodrich, Michigan native said. "The credit goes to the guys on defense though because they were clearing guys out all weekend which made my job a lot easier. The important part is we got three wins on the road, which is tough in the North."
Kissaw's honor comes as no surprise to Rangers head coach Kenny Miller.
"Kevin has been solid all season and last weekend was no exception," said Miller. "When we needed a big save, he came up with it and that's why he was able to help us to a weekend sweep."
With the three wins Kissaw is now 9-5-2 on the season, and boasts a solid goals-against average of 2.60, complimenting a saves percentage of .919.
