Kingsport Rallies Past Mariners
July 7, 2014 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Pulaski Mariners News Release
The Pulaski Mariners (10-8) dropped the second game of a three game series against the Kingsport Mets (8-10) 16-11.
Both side's bats were hot and big innings were the order of the day. The biggest of innings came in the bottom half of the eighth when the Mets put eight runs on the board.
Rigoberto Garcia (0-0, 67.50 ERA) started the game for Pulaski. In a case of foreshadowing he lasted only two-thirds of an inning while surrendering five runs. The Mariners' bullpen could not stem the tide. Only Peter Miller, who recorded the final out of the eighth inning, escaped the game without allowing a run.
Monday night was an offensive exhibition. Six of Kingsport's nine starters recorded two or more hits, and five had multiple RBIs.
For the most part, Pulaski's offense was able to keep pace. Batters three through five did the lion's share of the damage. Wayne Taylor went two-for-three with two runs batted in and three runs scored. Carlton Tanabe contributed with four runs batted in, and Estarlyn Morales drove in two more.
Pulaski and Kingsport decide the winner of the series Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
