Lakeland Raiders News Release
Talking to the players after the first week of Raiders 4 Kids youth games, the consensus was that they had died and gone to football heaven -
that playing on the professional field with the giant scoreboard and stadium announcer and the fans in the stands was as good as it could get.
After week 2, the consensus was basically "we were wrong - it got even better."
"I think we were all really nervous last week," one Division I player told me. "It was scary playing on the Raiders field. But now I think we're all used to it."
A nearby dad agreed.
"Last week my son was scared. This week it was all excitement, no fear."
Because the Lakeland4Kids league play only before Raiders home games, the teams had three weeks to prepare for the second round. The preparation showed not only in the confidence of the players before and during the games, but also in the level of play calling and execution. As the teams have more time to work together, the coaches will be able to add more and more plays to their repertoire. With another three weeks before the next round of games, you can be sure that these young men will continue to develop into football players before our very eyes.
There is still time to get in on the action. Come out for Week 3 of Raiders 4 Kids football action on April 20th Then stick around and enjoy the Lakeland Raiders stomp on the Sarasota Thunder.
