Richmond Kickers News Release
Richmond, VA - The Richmond Kickers announced today plans to extend their partnership with Midlothian Youth Soccer League (MYSL). MYSL merged their travel program with the Kickers in 2000 and have since been a vital source of aspiring travel players for the Richmond Kickers.
The Richmond Kickers Soccer Club and MYSL will continue their existing relationship, striving to promote the sport of soccer through an extensive partnership agreement. The new partnership agreement will allow the Richmond Kickers to continue as the exclusive travel program provider for MYSL. In addition, the partnership includes several cross-promotional components such as tournaments, uniforms, website links, marketing, sponsorship, coaching and administrative support, plus a commitment from both clubs to increase participation opportunities for all Chesterfield County residents.
"As the new section of the Hensley Road Soccer Complex nears completion and the Kickers Regional Sports Complex begins development there is plenty for our soccer community to be excited about," comments Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Vice President of Soccer Programs. "The Kickers are proud to partner with MYSL as they have always demonstrated a passionate commitment to grow soccer and offer positive developmental opportunities for their membership. We look forward to building upon the success of the past by continuing to offer fun and challenging programs for our youth community."
John Addison, MYSL Executive Director adds, "Since the merging of our travel program with the Kickers eight years ago, MYSL has grown as a purely recreational soccer club both in numbers and facilities. Our goal has been to develop players through our recreational program in a fun environment. Our partnership with the Kickers has allowed us to offer a stronger option for potential travel players and has been mutually beneficial. As we prepare to open the third section of our soccer complex on Hensley Road, this new agreement with the Kickers will strengthen our collective aim of providing a top quality developmental soccer program combined with a high level competitive travel segment. Pooling our resources in this way will provide a significant benefit for the youth soccer community in Chesterfield County."
In addition to overseeing the travel soccer program for MYSL, the Kickers provide all MYSL members with Pro Passes to allow entry into every Richmond Kickers regular season home game. The two organizations benefit from complex sharing, uniform and tournament cooperation, and mutually beneficial advertising and sponsorship campaigns.
