Kevin Mandolese Named Ultramar Player of the Week

Boucherville, QC - The latest Ultramar Player of the Week is goaltender Kevin Mandolese of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In a pair of starts at home, the 18-year-old from Blainville, Quebec went 2-0 with a 0.50 goals against average, one shutout and a sparkling save percentage of .983%.

On Friday night, Mandolese kicked aside all 37 shots he faced, including 18 in the second period alone, as the Screaming Eagles defeated their provincial rivals, the Halifax Mooseheads, by a score of 3-0. For Mandolese, who was named the game's first star, it was his second shutout of the season and the third of his QMJHL career.

The following night, the third-year veteran made 21 saves in a 4-1 Screaming Eagles triumph over the Shawinigan Cataractes. Only a late third period tally by the Cataractes would snap the shutout streak of Mandolese, which reached an impressive 134 minutes and 16 seconds. The win was the 17th of the year for Mandolese, which represents a new single-season career high for the netminder.

Entering this week's action, Mandolese sports a record of 17-8-1-2, a 2.79 GAA and a .897% save percentage. A first-round selection, 13th overall, by Cape Breton in the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft, Mandolese was also chosen by the Ottawa Senators in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
