Keohohou, Larquier Each Hit Two Home Runs in Four-Hour Loss to Philadelphia
CHANTILLY, VA - When the first pitch was thrown at 7:09 p.m., nobody thought they'd be 30 minutes shy of midnight when the game ended but that's what happened Saturday night at the Westfield Softball Complex as the Glory fell 10-7 to Philadelphia despite two home runs each by Oli Keohohou and Sara Larquier.
The big offensive night by Keohohou and Larquier were outshined by five lead changes, seven ties and three tenth-inning runs by the Force.
Keohohou now leads the NPF in home runs with 11, one night after Kristin Butler of Akron tied her with a two home run performance of her own. Larquier moves up the leader board, now with nine home runs, putting her in a tied for second place with Butler.
The big inning came in teh tenth for Philadelphia when Clare Burnum (4-for-5, 3 doubles, 3 runs, 3 RBI, stolen base) delivered her second run-scoring double of the game to put the Force up by one. They would tack on two more thanks to an RBI-single by Kellie Wilkerson (2-for-5, 2 RBI, stolen base) and RBI fielders choice by Chelsea Spencer (2-for-4, 2 RBI, run, 2 walks).
Keohohou's 3-for-5 performance included two RBI and two runs scored, was her seventh multi-RBI game of the year and first three-hit game of the 2008 campaign. Sara Larquier finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI, the fourth time this year she's driving in three in a game.
For Philadelphia, Sharonda McDonald went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Jenna Hall and Kristen Miller each had a pair of hits.
The game was delayed in the bottom of the eight with one out and a one-ball count on Keohohou due to lightning. However, radar showed the storms were well to the south of the area but the game was halted for 19 minutes before the game was restarted.
