July 17, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Bowling Green, KY. On Wednesday morning, four of the ABA Kentucky Mavericks professional basketball team front office, including team owner Jason Smith, et with the athletic department of Western Kentucky University to discuss Diddle Arena as the possible home for the team when it begins play in December.

Attending the meeting with Jeff Younglove, Director of Campus Events; Craig Biggs, Associate Athletic Director and Todd Stewart of the Athletic Department, Jay Sills, co-owner of the Mavericks, stated that "the meeting was very positive; they expressed their desire to have us play our home games there, but they did have concerns about scheduling conflicts because the ABA season coincides with theirs. However, the ABA is very flexible and hopefully the Mavericks can address their concerns and we can make WKU our home."

The team also announced its intention to sign former WKU player Boris Siakom. At 6'7", Siakom was a solid player for the Hilltoppers . "Our goal is to add several former WKU players; they're good," added Sills. "We're off to a good start and hope for a very successful season."
