KENT DAVISON NAMED HEAD COACH OF NBDL's ROANOKE, VIRGINIA TEAM

NBDL Press Release

Kent Davison, a former professional coach in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and United States Basketball League (USBL), has been named head coach of the National Basketball Development League's (NBDL) team in Roanoke, VA.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for me and my family to come to Roanoke, to join the NBA family and continue coaching," said Davison. "I have always had a passion for teaching the game. I am a coach who stresses fundamentals and focuses on team play, and I intend to create an exciting atmosphere for fans."

Davison comes to the NBDL from the USBL where he was the 2000 Coach of the Year for the Dodge City Legend. That year he also served as the Legend's director of player personnel and led them to a 25-8 record before winning the USBL Championship. Davison also served as head coach and director of basketball operations for the CBA's Fort Wayne Fury.

Prior to his coaching success with the Legend, Davison served as an assistant coach for the Fort Wayne Fury for two seasons (1998-99 ? 1999-00). He also coached at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas, for 17 years ? including six years as head coach (1992-98) and 11 years as an assistant coach (1981-92) ? while serving as a Professor of Marketing and Management.

"Kent is a professional educator and a proven winner," said Rob Levine, the NBA's Senior Vice President, New League Development. "He has a record for developing talent both on and off the court, and he will be a valuable asset to the NBDL family."

Davison's coaching experience dates back to 1974 when he coached basketball, tennis and football at Winfield High School while teaching accounting classes at the school. A native, Rochester, Pennsylvania, Davison earned his BS in Business from Sterling College (Kansas) before going on to earn his MS in Secondary Education from Fort Hays State University (Kansas). Davison and his wife Pat have been married 26 years and have two sons ? Matt, 23, and Andrew, 17. Andrew will attend Cave Spring High School in Roanoke in the fall.

Roanoke's NBDL team will tip off its inaugural season this November with home games at the Roanoke Civic Center.
