Mahoning Valley Phantoms News Release
BOARDMAN, Ohio (Tuesday, February 19, 2008) - The North American Hockey League announced on Monday evening that Mahoning Valley Phantoms forward Nick Kenney earned an honorable mention for Player of the Week in the North Division.
Kenney, 19, collected two goals and an assist this past weekend while helping lead the Phantoms to a 1-1 record against the Traverse City North Stars.
"I think Kenney had a great weekend for us," said Phantoms assistant coach Curtis Carr. "He's worked very hard all year and battled into the lineup to fill a role for us. He's been going to the net hard and shooting the puck, and he continues to create opportunities."
The Wixom, Mich. native is now fourth among rookies in team scoring with five goals and 11 assists, including a goal in each of the past three games.
Kenney and the second place Phantoms are back in action this weekend when they head to St. Louis for a pair of showdowns against the first place Bandits. Catch Phantoms hockey webcast live on the web at www.mvpphantoms.com.
The Mahoning Valley Phantoms are owned by the B.J. Alan Company - Phantom Fireworks, located in Youngstown, Ohio.
