Kendrick Harper Returns to Force

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force has re-signed veteran leader, defensive back Kendrick Harper.
Harper, entering his 3rd season with the Force, is a lock down cornerback and veteran leader of the defense. Harper anchored a Force secondary that finished atop the CIF in interceptions with 20 and 3rd in the league in passing defense efficiency. Over his two seasons with the Force, Harper has tallied 125 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 29 pass breakups. For his career, including 4 seasons with the Wichita Wild, Harper has 330 tackles, 48 interceptions, 70 pass break ups, and 6 interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Harper led a Force defense that made big plays late in games down the stretch, scoring in 5 straight games leading into the CIF championship. Harper's most memorable play from the 2016 season came against the Bloomington Edge in the 2nd round of the CIF playoffs. Down by 5 with just 2 minutes remaining in the game, Edge RB Andre Raymond rushed for a 6-yard touchdown to give Bloomington a 1-point lead, 51-50. The Edge attempted a 2-point conversion to increase the lead to 3, but Harper intercepted the pass from Edge QB Caleb Holbrook and returned it all the way for a Force score. Those two points were the difference in the Force defeating the Edge 52-51, and advancing to the CIF title game.
Harper, a native of Harwell, Ga., attended the University of Kansas and Butler Community College. After two seasons as a Grizzly, Harper transferred to the University of Kansas where his solid defensive efforts as cornerback led the team to a 20-6 record in two seasons along with two straight bowl game appearances. The Jayhawks went to earn victories in the Orange Bowl in 2007 and the Insight Bowl in 2008.
