
Keathley to speak at Pikeville College coaching clinic

PIKEVILLE, KY. - East Kentucky Miners Coach Kevin Keathley will be one of the speakers at the 2008 Pikeville College Basketball Coaching Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the PC Gymnasium. Pikeville College will host the basketball coaches clinic in conjunction with team practice sessions.
Session 1 of the clinic will begin at 10 a.m. Session 2 is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. Keathley will join Pikeville College Coach Kelly Wells, Centre College Coach Greg Mason and South Laurel High School Coach Steve Wright as speakers during the clinic.
"I'm looking very forward to speaking during the Pikeville College coaching clinic," said Keathley. "It's a great opportunity to have the chance to speak and meet some of the area coaches."
Keathley guided the East Kentucky Miners to a 26-22 regular-season record and an all-time single game record for points scored (194) during the team's debut season. The Miners also reached the CBA Playoffs under Keathley's guidance.
Wells and Wright have each coached teams to KHSAA state championships.
Greg Mason is a veteran college coach. Before returning to his alma mater - NCAA Division III member Centre - Mason was an assistant at NCAA Division II powerhouse Kentucky Wesleyan. He has the highest winning percentage in Centre school history.
"I'm excited to be able to join Coach Wells, Coach Mason and Coach Wright as part of the clinic," Keathley added. "Both Coach Wells and Coach Wright won Kentucky high school state championships. And Coach Mason has established himself as one of the top coaches in NCAA DIvision III."
