Katy indoor football team introduced
October 25, 2006 - Intense Football League (Intense)
Abilene Ruff Riders News Release
KATY, TX - Katy is the home of a new Indoor Football franchise. The Intense Football League's newest franchise was formally introduced today at the Katy Chamber of Commerce office. Heading the new Katy team is President Brandon Smith. "We look forward to building long-term relationships as we create an additional form of entertainment for the people of Katy, West Houston and beyond." After spending considerable time in selecting a city in Texas, Smith picked Katy. Few other places can claim such a love for football as the Katy area.
More immediate news was highlighted with the planning of the franchise's name unveiling on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. A team name will be selected from entries from a contest where the winner of the contest will win two season ticket packages for the 2007 inaugural season, and the opportunity to be recognized during the inaugural game ceremonial coin toss.
The Intense Football League season consists of 14 (all Saturday) games, seven of which will be hosted at home in Katy. They will be playing in the Leonard E. Merrell Center, which is a brand new facility in Katy and holds approximately 5,500 people per game. The season kicks off on Saturday, April 14, 2006. Season tickets will go on sale next week, but reservations are being accepted by calling 832-541-2471.
