The Nashville Kats got their first win of the season (1-2) by defeating the Utah Blaze (2-1) Sunday March 18, at the Nashville Arena. Kats FB Dan Alexander registered a season-high five rushing touchdowns en route to leading the Kats to victory.
Kat rookies QB Jeff Smoker and WR Kenny Higgins were impressive in their first career starts. Smoker connected with Higgins on three scores finishing 19-of-30 for 273 yards and five touchdowns for the Kats. Higgins tallied six catches for 98 yards and three touchdowns. Nashville's Cornelius Bonner finished with six catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Joe Germaine was 28-of-36 for 326 yards and 6 touchdowns for Utah who was handed their first loss of the season.
