Katie Burt, All-Time NCAA Wins Record Holder and 2017 NWHL First Overall Pick, Signs with Boston

Boston College goaltender Katie Burt, the first overall pick in the 2017 NWHL Draft by the Boston Pride and the all-time leader in NCAA history in victories, has signed for the 2018-19 season with the Pride.
"I'm ecstatic to join my hometown Pride and to become a part of the NWHL because this team and this league give me the best opportunity to achieve my goals in hockey," said Burt, 21, of Lynn, Mass.
"I want to play a part in the Pride winning the Isobel Cup again for Boston, and my aim is to be considered for the U.S. national team. I have no doubt we're going to have a great team in Boston, and the competition across the five teams of the NWHL is going to be fierce. Coming into training camp I'm expecting a great level of competition and to learn a lot from the women who have been there before me. I'm hoping to soak it all in and learn the ins and outs of professional hockey."
At Boston College, Burt amassed some eye-opening numbers, including a career record of 121-13-10, 35 shutouts, a 1.46 GAA and .936 save percentage - all school records. After entering BC as a 17-year-old after graduating high school a year early, Burt helped lead the Eagles to four Hockey East regular season titles, two Hockey East Tournament championships, and three Beanpot titles.
"Katie is a great goaltender with exceptional talent and a strong work ethic, so we're very proud and excited that she has decided to join the Pride," said Boston head coach Paul Mara. "Our staff will work closely with her to enhance her development as a player. I'm confident that Katie will play an instrumental role on our team this season, and for many to come."
With the U.S. national program, Burt led Team USA to the gold medal at the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championships, where she was voted by the coaches as one of the top players in the tournament. She was a member of the team that won silver in 2014, and of the 2016 U.S. Select Team for the Under-22 Series against Canada. In May of 2017, she was one of six goaltenders invited to the U.S. National Team tryouts.
"There are so many people who helped me get to where I am today," said Burt. "Everyone who has ever played with me or coached me has played a role in the player that I have become. With that being said, there are a few people I want to thank individually. My parents are the biggest influence in my life and I wouldn't be the person or the player I am without them. They have made so many sacrifices for me to play the sport that I love. 'Kinger' (Coach Katie King Crowley) and Courtney Kennedy at BC have helped me tremendously as well. They believed in me when i came in as a freshman and helped me develop my game for the next level."
