Kathrin Platz named Sea Devils GM

THE NFL Europe League has appointed the first female general manager in league history by naming KATHRIN PLATZ to head operations of its newest team, the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Announcing the appointment of Platz, who has been serving as marketing director and deputy general manager of the team since its launch, NFL Europe managing director JIM CONNELLY said: "Kathrin has been instrumental in getting the Sea Devils organization prepared for their first season. I am very confident that Kathrin's experience will enable her to meet the great challenge of establishing our new team in the city of Hamburg."

Before joining the NFLEL, Platz worked for three years for KFP, an agency for Live Communication, and was previously General Manager at the Renn-Klub in Frankfurt/Main, where she was responsible for acquisition of and support for sponsorship partners.

"Hamburg is ready for football and for the Sea Devils," she said. "We are going to prove that. I am very happy that the NFL Europe League has confidence in me. It is good to have the team's last outstanding issue resolved in time for us to concentrate on the upcoming season."

The Sea Devils play their first game at the Cologne Centurions on April 2 and stage their inaugural home game on April 16 against the Rhein Fire at the AOL Arena.

Head coach JACK BICKNELL welcomed the appointment, saying: "Kathrin has a very strong personality and I look forward to working with her to make the Sea Devils a team that we, and the NFL Europe League, can be proud of."
