May 27, 2005 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
New York/New Jersey Juggernaut News Release

New York, NY – May 27, 2005 – The New York Juggernaut is set for Opening Day vs. the Venezuelan National Team on Thursday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. The Juggernaut anticipates their New York debut and encourages all to come out and support the team. The NY Juggernaut is one of six teams in the National Professional Fastpitch, including the Akron Racers, Arizona Heat, New England Riptide and Texas Thunder. The New York Juggernaut, reigning 2004 NPF Champions, are ready to begin their second season in the NPF.

The Juggernaut has named Hofstra University as the home site for the 2005 season. The Juggernaut makes the transition to Long Island from last year's stadium at Montclair State University in New Jersey. The new Stadium features dugouts and seating for approximately 1,000 spectators including bleacher seating in the outfield. The New York Juggernaut is excited to begin the 2005 season at their new home on Long Island and anticipates another successful season. Tickets to the opening series are $5, a minuscule amount to witness Women's Professional Fastpitch Softball. The New York Juggernaut roster is comprised of athletes with remarkable experience, including 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Natasha Watley. Julie Smith, General Manager and Head Coach, is also a new face to the Juggernaut. A 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist, Smith brings experience and knowledge to the Juggernaut. Returning for the Juggernaut this season are 2004 NPF All-Star and Bay Shore, LI native, Jackie Pasquerella, and 2004 NPF All-Star Carri Leto. Another familiar face returning to the Hofstra Softball Stadium is former Hofstra Standout Alicia Smith.

Come out and support New York's very own National Professional Fastpitch Team. Enjoy a pleasurable experience with family and friends at Hofstra's Softball Stadium.
