Springfield Lasers News Release

SPRINGFIELD, MO - Springfield Lasers marquee player John Isner has added a second date to the team's home schedule, now appearing Fri., July 24, and Sat., July 25, in Springfield as part of the Mylan World TeamTennis 40th Season.

Isner, the No. 1 American male player since 2012, has finished in the (international) top 20 for the last five seasons. Isner, 30, is currently ranked No. 17. He is known for winning the longest match in tennis history, beating Nicholas Mahut at Wimbledon in 2010 after 11 hours and 5 minutes of play, spread over three days. He also set a new record of 112 aces in one match. At 6'9", with a size 15 shoe, Isner is considered one of the best servers on the ATP World Tour. He has nine singles and three doubles titles, and his career includes wins over Andy Roddick, Roger Federer, Nikolay Davydenko, Lleyton Hewitt, Novak Djokovic and Marat Safin.

The Springfield Lasers have also added American player Shelby Rogers to the team roster, to serve as a substitute for Alison Riske for part of the season. Rogers, 22, appeared in Springfield last summer as a sub with the Washington Kastles. She is currently ranked No. 84 in singles, reaching a career-high No. 70 last September. She has four ITF singles titles and one ITF doubles title. Last year she reached her first WTA singles final in Bad Gastein, Austria, upsetting Carla Suarez Navarro and Sara Errani along the way. She also appeared in the semifinals of Quebec City and earned her first Top 10 win in Montreal, knocking off world No. 8 Eugenie Bouchard. She advanced to the second rounds of the 2014 US Open and 2013 French Open.

Rogers joins John Isner, Andre Begemann, Michael Russell, Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Alison Riske on the 2015 Lasers roster.

The Springfield Lasers, celebrating their 20th season this summer, are the 2013 and 2014 defending Western Conference Champions, making it to the Mylan WTT finals two years in a row. The Lasers also won the Western Conference in 2009, 2001 and 1999.
