John Grant named Player of the Month for February; Andrew Burkholder wins Rookie of the Month

Rochester Knighthawks forward John Grant Jr. was named National Lacrosse League Player of the Month for February earlier today. Philadelphia Wings forward Andrew Burkholder was named the Rookie of the Month for February. The awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers of the league's ten member clubs.
Grant earned the Player of the Month Award for February after leading the Knightahwks to a 2-2 record in the second month of action. The veteran forward scored 32 points on 14 goals and 18 assists in February and currently leads the league in total goals and points this season (32G, 66pts). The three-time All-Pro (2001 First Team, 2002, 2003 Second Team) also collected 22 loose balls in February. Grant earned three Weekly Player Awards in February. He was named the Week #8 Overall and Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in two games played that weekend, including a nine goal, 11 point performance in a 14-13 overtime win on the road against Philadelphia. The Peterborough, Ontario native was also named the Week #7 Offensive Player of the Week for a 12-point performance (2G, 10A) in a 16-15 win over Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Wings rookie forward Andrew Burkholder captured the February Rookie of the Month Award. Burkholder played in four of five Wings games in February and totaled seven goals and five assists for 12 points and collected 25 loose balls. The Wings went 3-2 in February and 3-1 with Burkholder in the lineup. The St. Catharines, Ontario native was named Rookie of the Week in two consecutive weeks in February (Week #8 and Week #9). Burkholder's performance in Week #8 and #9 helped spark a three game win streak for Philadelphia that has brought the team back to .500 and back into the playoff race.
