Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, CA - The Lancaster JetHawks ended the Inland Empire 66er's playoff hopes Sunday night with a walkoff ninth inning win at the Hangar. For most of the night, it appeared that the ballgame would not be nearly that dramatic. Shane Wolf cruised through eight innings, the JetHawks scored early and took a four-run lead into the ninth inning. But the Sixers tied it with four in the ninth to set the stage for Marcos Cabral's heroics. With the bases loaded and one out, Cabral roped a single to left field to score Jon Gaston and seal a 7-6 victory. With the victory, the JetHawks clinched the season series with the Sixers and will have an opportunity to split the four-game homestand in the season finale on Monday.

After Wolf sent the Sixers down in order in the first, Gaston got the JetHawks on the board with his 35th home run of the year in the home half of the frame. Matt Weston made it 2-0 with a solo blast to open the sixth inning, and Lancaster stretched its lead to five in the third. After Gaston singled in Shuck, Ebert Rosario scored on a wild pitch. Koby Clemens hit a sacrifice fly to right and it was 5-0. The Sixers got on the board in the fourth. After an error by Ebert Rosario, Andres Perez hit an opposite field home run and the score was 5-2. Lancaster padded its lead with Koby Clemens' 22nd home run tio right field in the fifth. It stayed that way until the ninth; Shane Wolf took Lancaster to the final ining ahead by four having allowed only four hits.

But the Sixers bangedout five straight hits to open the ninth and draw within one run, and a Garrett Green sacrifice fly tied the game at 6. Wolf - who struck out a career high 10 - was pulled from the game for Jose Duran who got two huge strikeouts to end the threat. The JetHawks would load the bases in the bottom half with a Gaston double and walks to Clemens and Weston. Cabral delivered with a line drive to left and the JetHawks capped a 7-6 victory.
